Fighting Back Against Cancer: An Inspirational Story

By |2020-03-10T17:23:08+00:00March 10th, 2020|Georgia Personal Training, Inspiration, Recognition|Comments Off on Fighting Back Against Cancer: An Inspirational Story

One of the reasons we started Georgia Personal Training was that we wanted to make a difference in the lives of the clients we serve. We are proud to say that we have numerous success stories and testimonials where our personalized personal training programs have done just that. However, one of the most inspiring client stories we have is a young man by the name of Brendan who just recently turned 30. He has been fighting cancer for some time -- two years in fact. And, by fighting, I mean he is not planning on giving into it or giving up.  It was about six to eight months ago when he was really struggling with cancer and chemotherapy. Now, his hair has grown back and his weight is returning to normal. However, his body still has many tumors that he continues to fight. Despite all of this, Brendan does not feel sorry for himself nor does he want anyone else to either. Instead, Brendan is at the gym every day, putting in his time and smashing those weights. He also gives the punching bag a good pummeling and puts in miles on the bike. And, the entire time he is [...]

The Importance of Core Strength and Rotational Power

By |2020-01-26T19:06:58+00:00January 26th, 2020|Personal Training|Comments Off on The Importance of Core Strength and Rotational Power

You might have read about the importance of core strength or heard about it from someone who works out a lot. However, you still may not be sure why it should be a focal point in your fitness routine. The core muscles are considered to be the most important muscles for human function and overall physical performance. While you may not realize it because you unconsciously stand up, bend over, or reach for things, all movement stems from the core. The Mayo Clinic put together an in-depth explanation of the value of working your core. The muscles in your core help to move, support, and stabilize your spine. These muscles include your abs, internal and external obliques, and many others. In strengthening your core to stabilize your spine, you can also reduce the risk of injury and enhance your athletic performance. With strong core muscles, you can move your limbs faster and with a greater force.  It also reduces the risk of developing lower back pain or sciatic nerve pain. Also, it's easier to main a proper posture. To help you achieve a stronger core, our personal training programs include exercises like squats and deadlifts, which help  strengthen your lower back muscles. [...]

Get in Shape For the Spring Season with Baseball Training

By |2020-01-18T20:51:22+00:00January 18th, 2020|Baseball Strength & Conditioning|Comments Off on Get in Shape For the Spring Season with Baseball Training

With the new year underway and spring not so far away, it's time to think about how you will up your baseball performance during this season at high school or college. We have the answer: Baseball performance training with our highly trained, experienced personal trainers. Our personal trainers played baseball for many years at multiple levels so they understand what it takes to win and how to improve overall agility, flexibility, response time, strength, and explosive delivery. There is no basic weightlifting exercises that can deliver that baseball performance enhancement. Instead, you have to undertake a customized personal training regimen with a personal trainer who understands what can help improve arm strength and deliver that agility you need to quickly change direction on the field. Our baseball training programs are designed with these key needs in mind. However, each baseball training program is different because it is about you as a baseball player and as an individual. This includes getting to know how you play, think, and react on and off the field. We learn about your strengths and weaknesses and address the mental game, which is so much a part of performance improvement in any sport. We also have [...]

Resolve To Reach Your Fitness Goals with 3 Personal Training Sessions For $99!

By |2020-01-11T18:22:57+00:00January 7th, 2020|Fitness|Comments Off on Resolve To Reach Your Fitness Goals with 3 Personal Training Sessions For $99!

You might think that getting started is the hardest thing about fitness goals. But, in reality, the biggest challenge is sticking to it. As we noted last week in our blog post, each year, many people set resolutions for weight loss and fitness with the best intentions to fulfill them but then quickly fall off track. Part of that goal we mentioned was having a healthy mindset for food, rest, and work balance. The rest, as we know, is a lot of hard work, sweat, and possibly a few tears. But, we know how to make it a bit easier and motivating for you: personal training assistance. Having that support and direction as well as customized plan is a way to keep you track with these fitness resolutions and help you get there without any giving up along the way. We realize that many people are wary of the cost of personal training, worried that it will be too expensive for them. However, ever since we started our gym and personal fitness services, our primary goal has been to make personal training accessible to as many people as possible. To do that means we have to provide a fair price [...]

Start the New Year On a Healthy Journey

By |2019-12-22T20:10:29+00:00December 27th, 2019|Personal Training|Comments Off on Start the New Year On a Healthy Journey

Each year, many of us set resolutions for weight loss and fitness that we aim to keep but often don't. This upcoming year is the start of a new decade so it can be the inspiration to finally stick with those resolutions. To start -- and maintain -- a healthy journey that includes exercise, better eating habits, balanced lifestyle, and personal training, here are some tips that have helped many of our personal training clients: Educate yourself on what it means to be obese, what your healthy weight and body mass index (BMI) should be, and how you can change those measurements. Write down your goals and maintain a food and exercise journal. You can write it in a notebook or use a computer or mobile device to record daily food and movement. Here, you can also reflect on your goals, including your accomplishments and setbacks. Make milestones rather than large goals. These milestones will be easier to achieve, reduce disappointment, and encourage you to keep going. Create a daily and weekly schedule around the healthy life you envision for yourself. Work with a personal trainer who can take your goals and put specific actions to each one related to [...]

The Best Gift For Your Family is to Be Strong and Healthy

By |2019-12-22T19:55:28+00:00December 17th, 2019|Fitness|Comments Off on The Best Gift For Your Family is to Be Strong and Healthy

Being healthy and strong is ideal for your personal and well-being. It gives you the energy and longevity you need to enjoy a good life. Even more important, though, is to be healthy and strong for your family. You want to be there for your significant other and kids, if you have them. They want you to be part of their lives for as long as possible, making memories together. And, you want the same. The problem is that we get so involved in our daily lives of working and keeping up with all our responsibilities that we neglect taking care of ourselves. Many of us have sedentary lives, sitting for more than 12 hours a day at work, during a commute, and relaxation in the evening. That can lead to weight gain and accompanying health issues that can reduce our life span. Instead, you can find ways to stay health for yourself and for them by setting the right example. Here are some ideas to focus on your health in 2020: Set limits to your work schedule, keeping it from spilling over into what should be your free time like the weekends and evenings when you can stay more [...]

The Best Christmas Gift Lists Include a Personal Trainer

By |2019-12-09T00:06:28+00:00December 9th, 2019|Fitness Trainer|Comments Off on The Best Christmas Gift Lists Include a Personal Trainer

Many people are adding things like a gym membership or wearable fitness device to their Christmas wish list. Maybe they want a treadmill or Peloton. All those are good gifts to work on your fitness. However, none of them come close to being as good of a Christmas gift than a personal trainer. That's because personal trainers get the most results. The other items, although effective with a disciplined person over an extended period of time, don't achieve the best results that a personal trainer offers. Your personal trainer will work with you and keep you motivated. They'll show you how to do the best exercises for you, including how much and how often. Personal trainers also know how to help with certain fitness goals, such as losing weight, adding strength, or training for a particular sport. Plus, personal trainers can recommend an optimized diet, sleep program, and lifestyle changes to help hit certain health and wellness targets. It's easy to get started with personal training. You can purchase gift certificates online to gift to someone who wants to work on their fitness. Then, they can come in to our facility and enjoy a free session where we first get [...]

Happy Thanksgiving! Let’s Keep Up That Personal Training During the “Eating” Holidays

By |2019-11-27T14:57:46+00:00November 27th, 2019|Fitness|Comments Off on Happy Thanksgiving! Let’s Keep Up That Personal Training During the “Eating” Holidays

Thanksgiving is nearly upon us. We look forward to the time we have with our own families, reflecting on another year of abundance and. gratitude. We wish all of our clients a Happy Thanksgiving! We understand that during this holiday and the upcoming celebrations that finish off the year that these events have become unofficially known as the "eating" holidays. That's because we end up pulling out so many rich foods. Thanksgiving tempts us with mashed potatoes, pie and whipped cream, and plenty of alcohol. Then, there is Christmas with chocolates, candies, and cookies among all the other goodies. Although it's nice to enjoy some of these "extras" during the holidays, it's also important to keep your personal training going. Besides the food, it can be difficult to maintain that workout schedule with days off and a house full of visitors. However, we recommend the following strategies to stay on track with your personal training: Schedule your personal training sessions now through the end of the year based on what you know about visitors and your time off. This can help you be more accountable to personal training than if you just waited and scheduled it each week. Do your [...]

Baseball Performance Training

By |2019-11-17T20:10:35+00:00November 17th, 2019|Baseball Skills Training|Comments Off on Baseball Performance Training

At Georgia Personal Training, our focus is on delivering elite personal training services for clients in the Metro Atlanta area.  One of our specialty areas in personal training focuses on sports performance, including baseball performance training. Our team includes experienced baseball players who played in high school and college and, therefore, understand the type of training needed to excel at America's favorite sport. Baseball performance training focuses on agility, arm strength, power, and speed -- all critical skills that a baseball needs to stand out from the rest of the players. There are specialized movement patterns in baseball that are unlike those in any other sport. That means you can't use the same personal training techniques for baseball as you would for say football or lacrosse. Our baseball performance training programs focus on helping a baseball player increase their bat speed and exit velocity, throwing velocity on the mound and in the field, speed on the bases, agility and range on defense, and durability. At the same time, we use techniques that help a baseball player reduce their risk of an injury. Every year, baseball players are getting bigger, stronger, and faster. That means each baseball player has to do more to [...]
