Georgia Personal Training

November is designated as National American Diabetes and Lung Cancer Awareness Month. If you know someone who is suffering from one of these illnesses, they typically need a sign of encouragement and positivity. Perhaps and invitation to have that person take a free consultation and training session at Georgia Personal Training (GPT) would a great way to show that you care and to acknowledge the importance of the November awareness month.

Diabetes is a fast growing public health issue. Many people live with the illness but with proper management of it they are able to avoid major complications later by making healthy life style choices. Early screening by doctors is a good start as often diabetes is a gradual illness that develops over time and early detection of symptoms can allow for adjustments in eating, exercise and other lifestyle activities. There are also many sources of information to increase awareness and management of the illness. The American Diabetes Association is one such educational resource.

Lung Cancer is also a major public health issue. This disease causes more deaths each year than many of the other known major illnesses combined. Some studies show that 90% plus of lung cancer illnesses could be avoided by not smoking. Back in 1995, there was a day designated as Lung Cancer Awareness Day and this has morphed into Lung Cancer Awareness Month. During November there is special interest from people in the US and the world to focus on a wide variety of social media, fund raising and other awareness activities.

The professional and talented personal trainers at GPT understand that exercise is not the magic pill to cure every illness. However, many studies reveal the importance of physical activity and proper diet for improving one’s overall health. At GPT we are committed to each and every client to ensure that we develop the exact workout program to help our clients reach and stay at optimum physical fitness.

Georgia Personal Training

One of the reasons we started Georgia Personal Training was that we wanted to make a difference in the lives of the clients we serve. We are proud to say that we have numerous success stories and testimonials where our personalized personal training programs have done just that.
However, one of the most inspiring client stories we have is a young man by the name of Brendan who just recently turned 30. He has been fighting cancer for some time — two years in fact. And, by fighting, I mean he is not planning on giving into it or giving up.  It was about six to eight months ago when he was really struggling with cancer and chemotherapy.
Now, his hair has grown back and his weight is returning to normal. However, his body still has many tumors that he continues to fight. Despite all of this, Brendan does not feel sorry for himself nor does he want anyone else to either. Instead, Brendan is at the gym every day, putting in his time and smashing those weights. He also gives the punching bag a good pummeling and puts in miles on the bike.
And, the entire time he is working out, Brendan has a smile on his face. He refuses to be defined by his circumstances and he proves that you can never use other things as an excuse to not exercise and take care of your health and wellness.
Brendan personifies why we should never quit trying to make ourselves better no matter what obstacles are placed in front of us. Maintaining a positive attitude and continuing to exercise are two ways that Brendan — and all of us — can keep fighting whether it is cancer or something other type of barrier in our lives.
