Georgia Personal Training uses an athlete specific approach to training!

GPT Develops Speed and Agility

Athlete Specific Approach

A training program should not only be designed based on an athlete’s chosen sport, but on the specific needs of each individual athlete.  Our goal is to help every one of our athletes reach their maximum athletic potential, and in doing so, help them achieve their dreams within their sport.   To accomplish this we must keep things specific and personal.  This is why we do not offer large group or team training at our facility like many others do.  The more athletes training at once, the more watered down and generic the training becomes.  Especially when dealing with younger athletes that already require additional supervision and guidance to begin with.

A group class or team approach to training athletes is totally completely flawed concept.  A 135 pound shortstop that runs a 6.5 60 yard dash should be trained completely differently than a 220 pound first baseman that runs a 7.6 but hits for big power.  To have both of them going through an identical workout routine day after day and expecting optimal results for both is ridiculous.  You would think this would be self explanatory, but the money that can be made by training 20 athletes at once is difficult for trainers to pass up, and most parents can’t discern the difference between “training” and “exercise”.

They do not understand that a generic workout that can be done by the whole team at once is going to be minimally effective at best for their son or daughter.  The best athletes in the world don’t train alongside a dozen of their teammates.  They train in a one on one setting or in a small group of 2-4 athletes with several trainers running the session.  They do this because they understand the importance of specificity and personal attention.  They understand the only to stay at the top of the mountain is to keep distancing themselves from the rest of the pack.

At GPT, we believe every athlete that puts their trust in us deserves a program designed just for them.  At GPT, we ask the question, “what is it going to take to get this kid a scholarship?” And that’s the foundation on which your program is built.  We look closely at your athletic strengths and weaknesses and then decide how to best approach your training in order to reach your personal goals.

Our sessions are either one on one, or small groups of 2-4 with a minimum of one trainer for every two athletes.  Remember this, two dozen kids doing push ups, planks, and running through the agility ladder are not “training” they are “exercising”.  There’s a huge difference, and that difference may be the difference in a scholarship for your son or daughter.

Our professional trainers at GPT will completely devote themselves to developing students. We want those students to achieve their dreams and will not stop until they feel they are ready!

Customer Testimonial From Perry Beard

My son Tyler has been working out with Matt for over a year and a half. He has a very busy baseball schedule so getting in more than twice a week is difficult. Tyler typically does one total body training workout per week, and one baseball skills workout per week. During the time since Tyler started with Matt, I have seen his strength, endurance, and speed improve dramatically. The exercises he’s been doing are obviously tailored for baseball players, and the results translate to the field.

Like most kids, Tyler was not very enthusiastic about the workouts in the beginning, but after seeing the improvements to his game on the field, he is now eager to workout as often as possible. Matt has also helped Tyler greatly with his hitting and fielding. His technique has improved in both areas, but the area I am most impressed with is Tyler’s mental preparation. He now has a plan for each at bat instead of just hacking away. He is hitting with more power and has improved his average greatly. In the field his range has improved along with his technique.

Tyler just completed a very successful freshman season where he started for the Alpharetta Raiders at 3rd base, 1st base, Outfield, and was their #1 starting pitcher for most of the year. I attribute a lot of this success to Matt and I would highly recommend Matt’s training services to any baseball player that wants to improve their game.
