BrandyWe get asked a lot about why a personal trainer is better than just working out on your own. The more Brandi and I have thought about, the longer our list gets, especially when our list of success stories keeps growing.

1. Educational

Personal trainers undergo extensive training and instruction. That means they are well-versed in exercise, nutrition, fitness, and lifestyle changes. Their education is then applied to your training to ensure you can meet your goals and undertake exercise that has been researched and studied. Plus, the extensive training means your personal trainer has the knowledge to help you more than anyone who has not studied fitness and health.

2. Form

On your own, you may not be lifting correctly or performing exercises with the best form. You could either not be meeting your goals or, worse, hurting yourself without someone trained to understand what posture to use and how far to extend your arms or legs during a certain exercise. iStock_000013732715_Large

3. Unique Requirements

Not everyone is the same. Your age, past injuries, and health issues are all unique. These must be considered when exercising. That’s why a personal trainer can make the difference. They have been trained to understand how different age groups and situations should be handled as part of your optimum exercise regimen.

4. Realistic Expectations

A personal trainer understands what is realistic for your weight, age, and health. They can help you set the right goals accordingly. If you have an ideal timeframe and don’t meet it, you can get discouraged .However, with a personal trainer giving you a more realistic picture of weight and body fat loss as well as other measurements, then you can align your expectations accordingly.

5. Specific Goals

They can help you if you are training for a marathon or participating in a certain sport. Because they understand how long it takes to get in shape and what type of program will work with that timeline in mind, they can help you reach your goals for those specific situations more so than you on your own with no sense of how long or what to do to train. This also means that your goals for a certain sport you play can be easier to attain even if you have a coach and practices to show you. Woman with trainer at gym.

6. Accountability

You will never do as much on your own as you will when there is someone watching and tracking what you do. When you know you have to be at the gym at a certain time to meet your trainer for your appointment, you are much more likely to go than if you didn’t have to meet someone.

7. Time Efficiency

Your personal trainer has a set time to work with you. In that time, they want to make sure you get through a certain amount of exercise. You are not likely to do this if you went to the gym alone. In fact, you may end up chatting with other people or only half-heartedly do some of the sets you intended. And, you might check your fine. There is no way you personal trainer will allow any of that, so you’ll be able to get the most out of your time at the gym.

8. Moral Support

Your personal trainer is a cheerleader, listener, and moral support for you. They become friends or family to you, providing that extra support you may need beyond just showing you how to exercise the right way. It’s encouraging to have someone there for you as you struggle through a workout or feeling like giving up. They’ll keep you going. Personal training

9. Good Habits

They are there to help you shape those good habits to replace your old ones. That means pushing you to work hard, stay on task with your regimen and diet, and encourage you to make this into a healthy lifestyle. It means showing you how to replace those bad habits with ones that make you and your body feel great.

10. Flexibility

They are available to fit your schedule. And, now, in our own gym, this includes online coaching to be available when you can workout. Personal trainers work all hours of the day and evening to ensure their clients can workout and stay healthy. There is no time they are not available for you.
